Diversity Equity and Inclusion

At Blue Surge Marketing Agency, our team rallies around a single purpose: to help businesses and nonprofit organizations meet their objectives through strategic digital marketing. That purpose and our inclusion of “all” directly connect to our company’s inclusivity value. We leverage our aim to champion a more inclusive society that provides a fulfilling workplace and enhances engagement with our clients, communities, and vendors.

Our History

Blue Surge Marketing Agency has a longstanding commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).
Diversity, equity, and inclusion are part of our core values, shape our culture, and drive our business. Since our inception, we’ve been on a journey to build and refine our DE&I strategy.

Our Strategy

At Blue Surge Marketing Agency, we embrace diversity and strive to give everyone access to opportunities. Our DE&I strategy focuses on four areas:

  • Creating an inclusive experience for our team, vendors, and clients
  • Having an inclusive work environment.
  • Ensuring we have a diverse workforce
  • Fostering change that have a positive impact on our local community

Equal Employment Opportunity

Blue Surge Marketing Agency is an equal opportunity employer that prohibits discrimination, and will make decisions regarding employment opportunities, including hiring, promotion and advancement, without regard to the following characteristics: race, color, national origin, religious beliefs, sex (including pregnancy), age, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, citizenship status, military status, marital status, genetic information, or any other basis protected by federal, state, or local fair employment practice laws.

Our Commitment

As part of Blue Surge Marketing Agency’s more extensive efforts to address the drivers of systemic racial inequity in society and accelerate change, our CEO has committed a percentage of profits through our website for Racial Equity. The firm’s initiatives fund research, advocacy, innovation of practices and tools, stakeholder convening, and non-profit capacity building focusing on eradicating systematic disparities experienced by Black and African American communities in the United States.

Access to Opportunity

The world of marketing is an excellent way for people to build valuable skills and grow a meaningful, well-paying career. With a “faster than average” job rate of 10% growth from 2016 to 2026, professions in advertising, promotions, and marketing management are projected to stay healthy, according to the United States Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics. Advertising remains a building block of the American experience. And at Blue Surge Marketing Agency, almost anyone can discover a path to a great career.

Breaking Barriers

The path to employment is littered with obstacles for many job seekers, especially people of color. Lack of prior experience, a criminal record, or a lack of formal education prevents employers from considering some.
We’re proud of our low barriers to job opportunities and the pathways we’ve created to turn jobs into careers.

In 2021, we hired a record number of new team members globally, many of whom were negatively impacted and lost their jobs due to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic that swept the planet.

Hourly Pay and Incentives

We continue to invest in pay for our team members globally.

  • Our wage structure reflects varied market rates associated with each role.
  • The combined hourly wage is even higher when accounting for various benefits, team member discounts, commute savings from working remotely, paid time off, and quarterly and annual bonuses.
  • Over the past year, Blue Surge Marketing Agency has raised wages for many roles on our team, building on our new team-based structure of agency operations that creates new positions, higher pay, and more room for career growth.

Driving a Career

We’re proud that many team members begin their journeys in part-time roles while going to school or raising their children, and there are plenty of opportunities to move to full-time and beyond if and when they choose.

  • We have a 100% distributed workforce, which allows talented people across the globe to get their feet wet by joining our team without having to work in a centralized location. This helps drive careers because geography can often be a barrier for underrepresented groups who don’t have the means or fortune to live in a central metropolitan area like New York City.
  • Blue Surge Marketing Agency project managers can earn above the industry average.

Opportunities for Military Veterans and Students

We welcome people of all backgrounds and experience levels to join our family, and we’re committed to making the transition into employment as seamless as possible for our associates.

  • We encourage transitioning military, National Guard/Reserves, veterans, and military spouses to find meaningful futures through our agency and offer employment, education, and entrepreneurship opportunities.
  • Each year, we invite undergraduates and graduate students and new grads to participate in internship and development programs across the company. These positions may be paid through stipends or commissions and offer exciting opportunities to innovate, solve critical problems, and network with executives and industry leaders. Many of our interns are extended job offers after their internship.

Benefits: Support On and Off the Clock

We get it; things happen. And when you’re adjusting to the impacts of a global pandemic, it’s essential that you feel supported at the workplace since life doesn’t stop when you’re off the clock. At Blue Surge Marketing Agency, we understand that life events can affect things at work, so we are proactive in assisting our team members.

Scheduling Stability

Last-minute schedule changes can disrupt anyone’s day-to-day life. Here are a few ways we ensure scheduling stability at Blue Surge Marketing Agency:

  • We offer full-time team members a consistent schedule – a whole work week with set days on and off, so they can plan for life outside of work.
  • Team members have access to a shift scheduling app to track hours and request time off as needed.
  • Paid time off plans empowers team members to decide how they use their leave by streamlining paid vacation, sick time, personal time, and holiday time into one category.

Financial Security

As a growing digital marketing agency, team members have several financial benefits to get the most out of their pay.

  • Competitive pay that is in line with the current market.
  • Team members can get early access to wages ahead of scheduled paychecks. This is money they’ve already earned, and it allows them to adjust to sudden emergencies and manage the unexpected.
  • Allowances are given for equipment and subscriptions necessary to complete project deliverables, such as camera lenses and kits.
  • Team members can receive exclusive discounts on software for their projects outside of our firm.

Prioritizing Health & Wellness

Health benefits aren’t just about reimbursement plans, deductibles, company-paid life insurance, and maternity/parental support. It’s about providing comprehensive stability for our team members and their families as well. Team members should feel secure knowing that their personal health and their dependents’ health can be taken care of, should tragedy strike. We are constantly exploring and considering ways to add to our health benefits program, including:

  • Providing all team members with affordable options that include no lifetime maximum and qualified preventive care covered at 100%.
  • Doctor on Demand, the world class telehealth service, that allows team members to meet with physicians and mental health professionals from the comfort of home.
  • Giving team members a free, confidential counseling and health information service through Resources for Living.
  • Company-paid life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, critical illness insurance, short- and long-term disability insurance and business travel accident insurance.
